VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Statesmen (6-13 overall, 5-11 GSC) fell behind early to the Valdosta State Blazers (14-8, 10-6) on Saturday afternoon in what was eventually a 93-44 wire-to-wire win for the Blazers. Delta State's offense connected on only 25.8 percent of their shots from the field as the Blazers made just over half of their attempts at 52.2 percent.
The three-point arc was one of the main advantages for the Blazers on Saturday afternoon. Both teams attempted 35 shots from beyond the arc, but the Blazers made 14 (40%) of their three-point shots compared to the 4 (11.4%) made shots for the Statesmen.
Nine Statesmen scored on Saturday, but none were able to reach double-digits.
Demond Franklin played only 5 minutes, but scored a team-high 8 points for the Statesmen, making 3 of his 4 field goal attempts and both of his free throws.
Maalik Cartwright scored 7 points on a 3-of-6 shooting performance to go with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Derek Moore also scored 7 points to go with a game-high 12 rebounds.
