CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Statesmen (4-11 overall, 3-9 GSC) saw West Georgia (9-4, 9-3) come out of the gate swinging as the Wolves shot over 60 percent from the field in the opening half on Saturday night. Delta State outscored UWG by ten in the second half, but the damage had already been done en route to the Wolves' 75-63 win.
Maalik Cartwright was the game's highest scorer with 21 points on 7 made shots, including one from beyond the arc. He also snagged 6 boards and dished out 4 assists.
Freshman
Caleb Allen made the most of his minutes on Saturday, reaching double-digits with 12 points with 3 made three-pointers and 3 made free throws. He also reeled in 3 rebounds.
Kelen Dietrich was the only other Statesmen in double-figures with 11 points and 3 rebounds.
Sam Smith scored 8 points to go with 9 rebounds.
