FRANKFURT, Ky. -- Both teams held the lead seven times with eight ties throughout Sunday's game, but a late three-pointer and free throws gave the win to Kentucky State. The Statesmen outscored the Thorobreds 43-38 after trailing at halftime, despite only shooting 30 percent from the field in the half.
Defense was on full display on Sunday with both teams shooting around 44 percent for the game. Delta State recorded 35 rebounds to KSU's 45 and managed 7 second-chance points off of 9 offensive rebounds.
