Cleveland, Miss. – The Delta State University women's basketball team began conference play at home to Christian Brothers. Wakiryah Daniels scored the opening basket to give the Lady Statesmen the lead with 8:59 left on the clock. The Bucs didn't get their first basket until there was 6 minutes left in the quarter. The Lady Statesmen would lead 17-8 going into the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Lady Statesmen scored 3, 3 pointers that counted for 9 of the 26 points we scored in this quarter.
In the second half, the Bucs came out pressing the Lady Statesmen, getting more points in the board – with 41 of their 65 points coming just in the second half of play. The Lady Statesmen stayed strong and remained ahead for the remainder of the game. Elisha Wilson led the team with 19 points on the day. The game ended with a 78-65 victory for the Lady Statesmen.
