CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State needed a good second half against Montevallo after trailing at the end of the first and got exactly that as the Statesmen posted their seventh win of the 2023 campaign.
Montevallo shot .484 percent from the field in the opening half and rebounded DSU 22-9 in the opening 20 minutes.
The Statesmen made 17 of their 37 shot attempts in the first half (.459), but were just 6 of 22 (.273) from beyond the arc in that time.
Delta State's defensive pressure got the most of the Falcons in the second half.
The Statesmen scored 33 points off of 25 Montevallo turnovers in the game as they out-scored Montevallo 56-31 in the final 20 minutes.
Chris Terrell led all scorers with 23 points, shooting 8-16 from the field with 2 three-point makes.
Keithean Brooks scored 21 points on 8-11 shooting with 4 made three-pointers.
Caleb Allen also hit 4 threes, scoring 19 points, and
Maalik Cartwright was a rebound away from a double-double with 14 points and 9 boards.
