Lady Statesmen Fall in Close Contest to Montevallo

Cleveland, Miss. – The Delta State University Women's Basketball team hosted the Falcons of Montevallo University for a GSC matchup this Sunday. Elishia Wilson scored the game's opening basket, but Ramie Reid of Montevallo responded with a three-pointer. The first quarter was a back-and-forth contest until the three-minute mark when the Falcons went on an 8-0 run to end the first quarter. DSU battled back in the second quarter to close the Montevallo lead. Marisa Snodgrass would make a layup with eight seconds left in the quarter to give the Falcons a 27-24 lead at the half.

The third quarter saw the Lady Statesmen explode for 22 points while only allowing the Falcons to score 16 points. The Green and White ended the third quarter with a 46-39 lead going into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, Montevallo turned up their defensive pressure only allowing the Lady Statesmen to score seven points. Snodgrass scored the final five points for Montevallo to secure the 55-53 win for the Falcons.
