Cleveland, Miss. – The Delta State University Women's Basketball team traveled to Huntsville, Alabama for a GSC matchup with the Chargers of Alabama Huntsville this Friday. Makenzie Hill scored the opening basket of the game. The Green and White controlled the first quarter, allowing three points until the three-minute mark of the first quarter. The Chargers then went on a 6-0 run to give UAH the 9-8 to end the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Chargers turned up the defensive pressure, allowing the Lady Statesmen to score nine points in the quarter while they extended their lead to 25-17 to end the second quarter. The Lady Statesmen opened the second half with a 7-0 run to trail UAH 24-25. In the third quarter. Both teams traded baskets for the rest of the quarter until Martyna Czesick made two free throws at the end of the third to give DSU a 35-34. The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth contest till the very end. Maddie Krieger of UAH made the game-winning layup with 1.5 left on the clock.
