Cleveland, Miss. – The Delta State University Women's Basketball team hosted the Warhawks of Auburn University at Montgomery for a GSC matchup this Friday. Danielle Luckey of AUM scored the opening basket of the match. The Warhawks took an early 6-0 lead until
Madi Kate Vuncannon hit two three-pointers to tie the game at 6-6. In the first quarter, both teams would trade baskets, but the Warhawks would take a 15-13 at the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter, the Lady Statesmen would outscore the Warhawks 13-10 to take a 26-25 lead at the end of the first half. Both teams would trade baskets again to start the second half with both teams scoring 11 points, but DSU still led 37-36 at the end of the half. The Lady Statesmen turned up the defensive pressure against the Warhawks only allowing them to score six total points in the fourth quarter. The Green and White won the game with a final score of 53-42.
