Hot Shooting by Lady Statesmen Grounds the Shorter Hawks

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's basketball team returned home against Shorter University Thursday night. Ginny Higginbotham set the tone for the Lady Statesmen with a three-pointer to start the scoring.
The first quarter was a tight contest with both team trading scores. The Lady Statesmen started to pull ahead in the second quarter as they outscored the Hawks 22-13 in the frame. The Green and White would lead the entire contest never trailing after the first quarter.
Camryn Davis, Michelle Smith, Alanna Smith, and Shanell Kitchens all reached double figures for the Lady Statesmen. Camryn Davis led all scorers in the game with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
