Cleveland, Miss. – The Delta State University Women's Basketball team hosted Shorter University for the first GSC matchup of the new year. The Green and White defense would only allow eight points in the first quarter while scoring 17 points in the first quarter. The Hawks would bounce back in the second quarter by scoring 15 points, but the Lady Statesmen scored 17 more points taking a 34-23 lead into the half. The third quarter saw the Hawks outscore DSU 21-15 to go into the fourth quarter trailing 44-49. The Green and White Defense only allowed Shorter to score 19 points in the fourth while they scored 25 points to win the first game of the new year.
