Statesmen Suffer First Loss of the Season to Kentucky Wesleyan

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University men's basketball team (3-1, 0-0 GSC) fell at home to the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan University (2-2, 0-0 G-MAC) Sunday afternoon at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
 
The Green and White got a 29-point performance out of senior guard Chris Terrell. The Horn Lake native scored the second most points in his DSU career as he shot 7-14 from beyond the arch.
 
Terrell would start the game off scoring 12 of Delta State's first 20 points of the contest as he went 4-4 from beyond the arch.
 
The Statesmen would battle back after trailing 34-21 going on a 10-3 run in the final two minutes going into the half down 37-31.
 
Coming out of the half, the Statesmen would get another three from Terrell to cut the Panther lead to five points. But the Panthers would go on a 15-5 run in a seven-minute span to pull ahead 55-36.
 
Senior guard Keithean Brooks would be the second Statesmen with double figures, scoring 12 points as he shot 8-9 from the free throw line.
 
The Statesmen defense came into the game forcing an average 22.7 turnovers per game. The Statesmen would only force 13 turnovers this afternoon.
 
The Statesmen will hit the road this week as they will travel to Arkadelphia, Ark., on Thursday, Nov. 21 to face the Tigers from Ouachita Baptist University. Thursday's game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. (CDT)
