KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Delta State University senior point guard
Chris Terrell has earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches, and the D2CIDA National Player of the Week honors announced this afternoon.
Terrell, who was also named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week this morning, earned the honors after averaging 31.5 points per game in last week's two GSC contests against Montevallo and Auburn Montgomery.
With receiving this honor, Terrell marks the first Statesmen to win a National Player of the Week since
Maalik Cartwright won the D2CIDA National Player of the Week on January 17, 2023.
Terrell scored a career-high 42 points, four steals, and three assists in the Green and White's victory Saturday over Auburn Montgomery on Lloyd Clark Court in Walter Sillers Coliseum.
Terrell currently leads the nation with 38 steals so far this season as he averages 3.8 steals per game. Terrell currently leads all Statesmen scorers averaging 21.4 points per game while grabbing 4.0 rebounds per game and dishing out 3.9 assists per game.
Terrell and the Statesmen will hit the road this Thursday as they travel to Livingston, Ala., to take on the Tigers from the University of West Alabama. That game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. (CDT).
