HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Delta State University Women's Basketball team (8-4, 4-2 GSC) fell on the road to the Chargers from the University of Alabama at Huntsville (9-2, 5-1 GSC) 77-37 Saturday afternoon in Spragins Hall, in Huntsville.
Junior guard
Olivia Allen led the way for the Lady Statesmen scoring 16 points.
Delta State would get production from their bench early on as
Martyna Czescik would knock down a three to boost momentum for the Lady Statesmen as they would go on a 10-2 run to finish the opening quarter with a 12-11 lead. Czescik would finish the game with eight points a block and a steal.
Czescik would continue into the second quarter pushing the Lady Statesmen out to their biggest lead of the game at 17-13 with 9:08 remaining in the first half.
Wakiryah Daniels added six points in the second quarter as the Lady Statesmen would trail 31-25 at halftime. Daniels would score nine points off the bench for the green and white.
In the second half, the Lady Statesmen went cold from the field as the Chargers would pull away to a 77-37 win.
The Lady Statesmen will hit the road tomorrow to Jonesboro, Ark., to take on the Red Wolves from Arkansas State University. Tomorrow's game will tip off at 2:00 p.m., (CDT).
