CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State hosted Alabama-Huntsville Thursday night for yet another crucial GSC tilt as the regular season begins to wind down. The Statesmen entered the night holding on to the seventh seed in the GSC and were seeking a home win against the three-seed Chargers.
It was a relatively even match-up between the teams, with the Statesmen putting up 43 points to the Chargers' 41. The Statesmen made eight three-pointers and shot 46.9 percent from the field in the first half. Chris Terrell led the team with 15 points after the first 20 minutes of play.
The Statesmen created some space between themselves and the Chargers in the second half, out-scoring them 47-36 in the final 20 minutes. The Statesmen made 7 more three's in the second half and bettered their first half mark with a 54.6 percent shooting mark in the second half. The Statesmen created 15 UAH turnovers for the game in route to a 90-77 win.
Kelen Dietrich hit 3 three-pointers and is now tied for second in DSU career three-pointers with 201. He finished with 11 points to go with 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
Chris Terrell led all scorers with 27 points on 11 made field goals. He also led all players in two other categories with 9 assists and 6 steals.
The Statesmen had four total players with 3 made three-pointers, including Dietrich, Terrell, Kolby Horace, and Caleb Allen. Horace finished with 19 points and Allen finished with 11 points.
Keithean Brooks was also in double-figures with 17 points. He also reeled in five rebounds to go with an assist and a steal.
