CLINTON, MISS - The Delta State University Women's Cross Country team kicked off their 2024 campaign this evening as they headed to Clinton, Miss., to partake in the Mississippi College Opener. 

As a team, the Lady Statesmen finished seventh place with a total score of 188.

Junior Emma Haley led the way for the Lady Statesmen with a 21:57.10 timed 5k finishing 34th overall in the field. Following Haley was fellow Junior Anne Maree Crechale. Crechale ran a 22:44.30 time putting her in 38th place. In her first collegiate event, freshman Kayla Lofton placed 45th, finishing the 5k with a time of 23:49.10. 

The Lady Statesmen will be back in action next Friday as they head to Huntsville, Ala., for the Southern Showcase.
