MOBILE, Ala. – The Delta State University men's and women's tennis team finished the GSC Fall Championship Tournament with a finalist and four consolation finalist this weekend at the Mobile Tennis Center.
Senior
Angie Moreno reached the Flight Four finals after defeating Auburn Montgomery's Ana Clara Campiogotto in the quarterfinals by tie breaking fashion (6-4, 2-6, 10-5). In the semifinals, Moreno defeated Montevallo's Andrea Cano in straight sets (6-2, 6-4). In the finals, Moreno fell in a tight tie break to West Florida's Rachel Ames (6-0, 2-6, 3-10).
In the Women's Singles flight two,
Trinity Ly reached the consolation finals after defeating Valdosta State's Milica Prokic in the consolation semifinals by tie break (1-6, 6-4, 10-5) Ly would reach the finals before falling to Mississippi College's Carol Ann Stockett (6-1, 6-4).
For the Statesmen, freshman
Taylor Parker ended up winning the consolation finals in flight five after defeating Christian Brothers' Angel Zepeda Alvarado in a thrilling three sets (5-7, 6-2, 10-4). In the semifinals, Parker ended up beating Christian Brothers' Reagan Guess in straight sets (6-1, 6-0).
Fellow Freshman
Miguel Del Castillo reached the consolation finals of flight four after defeating Montevallo's Linus Sparding in the consolation semifinals in straight sets (6-3, 6-3). In the consolation finals, Castillo fell to Mississippi College's Charles Lefort (2-6, 0-6).
