Clayton and Braddix Post Career highs in Delta State's 83-65 win at AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Delta State University men's basketball (5-4, 2-2 GSC) put together a strong road performance Sunday afternoon, pulling away in the second half for an 83–65 Gulf South Conference victory over Auburn University at Montgomery (2-8, 0-4 GSC) at the AUM Athletics Complex.

The Statesmen shot efficiently from long range and used balanced scoring to secure the win, improving to 5–4 overall and 2–2 in conference play. Delta State connected on 16 three-pointers in the contest and held AUM to just 29 points after halftime.

Bryce Clayton led the way with a career-high 27 points, knocking down seven three-pointers and adding four rebounds and three assists in a standout performance. Clayton scored at all three levels and provided a spark early and often as Delta State built momentum throughout the game.

Brendan Braddix also turned in a career-best outing, scoring a career-high 11 points off the bench. Braddix was active on both ends of the floor, shooting 4-of-5 from the field while adding three rebounds, two steals, and timely buckets that helped extend the Statesmen's lead.

DaCory Porter finished with 16 points and a team-high nine assists to go along with seven rebounds, while Je'Marion Westbrook chipped in nine points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Spencer Clayton added nine points in limited minutes, connecting on all three of his three-point attempts.

Delta State led 41–36 at the break before opening the second half with a surge from beyond the arc to create separation. The Statesmen outscored AUM 42–29 in the final 20 minutes, using defensive pressure to force turnovers and convert key baskets in transition.

The Statesmen will return to Walter Sillers Coliseum for the final time in 2025 as they will host the Tigers from the University of West Alabama this Thursday at approximately 7:30 p.m. (CT)
