Box Score CLEVELAND, Miss. - Delta State University women's basketball picked up its second consecutive conference win Saturday afternoon, using a dominant fourth quarter to pull away from Christian Brothers for a 56-48 win at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

The Lady Statesmen trailed for more than 15 minutes of game time and found themselves in a tight battle through three quarters, holding just a 43-38 edge heading into the fourth.

Behind a breakout performance from Olivia Allen, Delta State found its rhythm when it mattered most. Allen led all scorers with 15 points, adding five steals as she sparked DSU's defensive pressure and fast-break success. She scored 10 of her points in the fourth quarter alone, including a pivotal 9-0 run that pushed the lead to double digits with under five minutes remaining.

Dakiya Toney delivered a strong inside presence, recording a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double, anchoring DSU's rebounding margin (40-33).

Madi-Kate Vuncannon added six points, all in the third quarter, to help flip momentum coming out of halftime.

Delta State struggled from beyond the arc early, going 0-for-7 from three in the first half but hit key perimeter shots during a 20-point third quarter that turned a tied game into a lead.

Defensively, the Lady Statesmen forced 20 turnovers and turned them into 18 points, winning a number of key hustle categories including second-chance points (12-2) and fast-break scoring (12-4).

With the victory, Delta State improves to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in Gulf South Conference play. The Lady Statesmen continue conference play with a two-game road swing starting on Thursday, Dec. 11 at Montevallo. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Montevallo, Ala.
