CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Softball Team (10-12, 5-9 GSC) will travel to Livingston, Ala., this weekend for a three-game series with the Tigers from the University of West Alabama (16-12, 7-8 GSC).
The Lady Statesmen and the Tigers will kick off the three-game series with a single game Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m., (CDT) at the UWA Softball Complex. The two teams will finish the series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. (CDT).
All three games will be streamed live on the FloCollege network.
Scouting the Lady Statesmen
- Delta State enters this weekend with a 10-12 overall record after splitting a mid-week doubleheader against the Cotton Blossoms from Arkansas Monticello. The Lady Statesmen also hold a 5-9 record in conference play.
- At the plate, Delta State has been led by the duo of Kyleigh Wheaton and Emma Collier. Both Collier and Wheaton hold a .375 batting average in 22 games played this season. Collier has a team high 14 RBIs and two home runs including one she hit Tuesday in the 12-9 win against UAM.
- In the circle, Ellie Cox and Emma Enderud started the season off well for the green and white. Cox holds a 3-2 record with a 3.92 ERA in 13 appearances and 10 starts. Enderud has had 18 appearances with at team high 44 strikeouts in 58.1 innings pitched.
Scouting the Tigers
- West Alabama enters this weekend with a 16-12 overall record and a 7-8 record in GSC play this season. The Tigers swept the Cougars from Columbus State Tuesday afternoon at the UWA Softball Complex.
- At the plate, senior Marissa Mitchell is off to a solid start to the season for UWA. Mitchell holds a .423 batting average with seven home runs and 21 RBIs. Mitchell went 3-8 in the double header in the double header Tuesday against Columbus State
- In the Circle, Delta State will likely see the duo of Eleanor De Block and Madison Wright. De Block has a 7-2 record with a 2.67 ERA and 51 Strikeouts in 13 starts this season. Wright leads all pitchers with 81 strikeouts as she holds a 8-6 record and a 3.22 ERA in 17 appearances this season.
