Lady Statesmen Celebrate Their Senior Class in Three-Game Series with Trevecca

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Softball Team (11-23, 5-17 GSC) will host a three-game series with the Trojans from Trevecca Nazarene University (22-13, 11-13 GSC) tomorrow and Saturday afternoon at University Field.
 
The Lady Statesmen and the Trojans are set for a double header tomorrow starting at 1:00 p.m. (CDT). Delta State will host their senior day ceremonies on Saturday at approximately 12:30 p.m. (CDT), before playing the third game of the series starting at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) at University Field.
 
Scouting the Lady Statesmen
  • The Lady Statesmen enter this weekend with a 11-23 overall record and a 5-17 record in conference play. The Lady Statesmen look to keep their GSC Playoff hopes alive with two wins on this three-game series against Trevecca.
  • Senior infielder Kyleigh Wheaton has been leading the charge on the offensive end for the Lady Statesmen. The Gentry, Ark., native is hitting .349 with three doubles and 15 RBIs. Against Montevallo last weekend, Wheaton collected a hit in every game as she went 3-8 at the plate with her second home run of the season and one RBI
  • Emma Enderud has increased her work load in the circle for the green and white. The senior lefty tossed 12.1 innings pitched with 10 strike outs in five games last week. The Oxford, Kansas native has tossed 92.1 innings pitched and has two complete games on her resume this season.
Scouting the Trojans
  • Trevecca Nazarene enters this weekend with a 22-13 overall record and a 11-13 record in conference play. Last time out, the Trojans took two out of three games last weekend in Livingston, Ala., against the Tigers from West Alabama.
  • At the plate, the Trojans are led by junior infielder Brianna Asmondy. The Springfield, Tennessee native leads all TNU hitters with a .348 batting average with 25 runs driven in and nine home runs on the season.
  • The Trojans also rely on two-way player in Ashlan Sensing. At the plate, Sensing hits .342 on the season with three doubles, one home run and 10 runs driven in. In the circle, Sensing has 21 appearances while started 20 games while holding a 15-6 record, an ERA of 2.12 and holds 117 strikeouts.
