CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Softball Team (12-27, 5-20 GSC) will host a three-game series against the Warhawks from Auburn University at Montgomery (29-9, 20-7 GSC) tomorrow and Friday at University Field.
Tomorrow's double header is set to start at 1:00 p.m. (CDT). The two teams will finish the three-game series on Friday at 1:00 p.m. (CDT).
Scouting the Lady Statesmen
- The Lady Statesmen enter this series with a 12-27 overall record and a 5-20 record in Conference play. Last time out, the Lady Statesmen split a non-conference double header with the Golden Suns from Arkansas Tech University Monday afternoon in Russellville, Arkansas.
- At the plate, the Lady Statesmen had a solid performance from sophomore infielder Kyleigh Wheaton. Wheaton went 3-4 with two runs driven in during Delta State's 3-1-win Monday. Wheaton is holding a .325 batting average with 17 runs driven in with eight extra base hits.
- In the circle, Emma Enderud had a solid outing Monday afternoon. The Oxford, Kansas native tossed a complete game and struck out five batters in the 3-1 win against Arkansas Tech.
Scouting the Warhawks
- Auburn Montgomery enters this weekend series ranked no. 6 in the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA). The Warhawks hold a 29-9 overall record and a 20-7 record in GSC play. Last weekend, AUM swept Union in a three-game series in Jackson, Tenn.
- The Warhawks are aggressive on the base paths as they lead the GSC as a team with 102 stolen bases led by junior Outfielder Chloe Baynes. Baynes has a team high 26 stolen bases on 27 attempts.
- In the circle, the Lady Statesmen will see a duo of Chelisa Newsome and Reese Cauley. Both pitchers have an ERA under two as Newsome holds a 1.33 ERA and Cauley has a 1.52 ERA.
