Preview: Lady Statesmen Kickoff Their 2025 Season with three matches in five days

Cleveland, Miss. - The Delta State University Lady Statesmen Soccer team begins their season at home against Eckerd College on September 5th at 2:00 p.m. at Delta Field

DSU will follow Friday's match with a two-match road trip to Georgia. The Lady Statesmen will face-off in a neutral site match against Saint Leo University on Sunday, September 7th at 2:00 P.M., at Georgia College& State University. Following the Sunday Match, the Lady Statesmen will face Georgia College & State University Tuesday, September 9th.
 
Scouting the Lady Statesmen:
  • The Lady Statesmen enter the 2025 season with excitement after coming off a 5-4-6 record in the 2024 season. Delta State was picked to 7th in the Gulf South Conference Preseason Poll.
  • Ava Webster has been named Preseason All-GSC, after finishing the season last year being named All-GSC Second Team. Webster played in 16 games, starting 14 of them and logged 1247 minutes. She led the Lady Statesmen in points, scoring four goals and assisting one goal.
  • Raegan Tucker is a Newcomer to Watch this year after receiving First Team All MACC, First Team All American, All Tournament National Team, and winning a NJCAA National Championship in 2024.
Scouting the Tritons:
  • The Eckerd College Women's Soccer Team finished with a 4-6-6 record last season.
  • Leading goal-scorer Freija Aflenzer is back for her second season with the Tritons.
  • Jillian Doerger was tied for most assists and shots-on-goal for the 2024 Tritons and is back for her 3rd year with the team.
Scouting the Lions:
  • Saint Leo is predicted to finish 5th in the SSC, coming off a 9-5-5 2024 season.
  • The Lions open their season on September 4th vs. USC Aiken before facing the Lady Statesmen.
  • Saint Leo enter the season with a rather young team after losing lots of players last year, including leading goal-scorer Ella Owen.
Scouting the Bobcats:
  • GCSU finished 4th in the Peach Belt Conference last season with a 9-7-3 record.
  • The Bobcats are returning 17 players from last year's team and have been picked to finish 5th in the PBC this year.
  • The Bobcats open their season with Belmont Abbey College on September 4th and have their home opener against the Lady Statesmen on September 9th.
