BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Delta State University Football Defensive Tackle
Alex Larry has earned the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors after his performance in the Statesmen's 41-9 win against the Trailblazers from North Greenville University Saturday evening.
Larry lived in the North Greenville backfield as he posted nine tackles, 2.5 for a loss and 2.5 sacks, including a sack on a crucial fourth down in the third quarter that led to a Statesmen scoring drive to extend their lead to 34-9.
The Greenwood native is the second consecutive Defensive Lineman to earn defensive player of the week since
Ahmir Taylor earned the honors last season on October 7
th.
The Statesmen are 2-0 and will hit the road this week to Pembroke, North Carolina to take on the Braves from UNC Pembroke on Saturday (Sept. 13) at 12:00 p.m. (CDT).
