Jenkins Named Faculty Athletic Representative

CLEVELAND, Miss. – Dr. Gina Jenkins has been named the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) for Delta State University Athletics, effectively immediately.


Dana George, Senior Executive Associate A.D. for Compliance, Academics, and Internal Operations/SWA, is eager to have Dr. Jenkins begin working with DSU's student-athletes. "This role reflects Dr. Jenkins' commitment to academic excellence and student-athlete success. Her leadership, integrity, and passion for education will strengthen the bridge between our classrooms and our athletic programs. We are confident she will be an outstanding advocate for our student-athletes and the values that define Delta State."

JenkinsJenkins earned a Bachelor of Science in General Studies from Delta State in 1997, a master's degree in communicative disorders from Ole Miss in 1999, and most recently completed the Doctor of Education in Professional Studies from DSU in 2024.

"I am looking forward to serving Delta State in the role of Faculty Athletics Representative and will do my best to serve the student-athletes of our great university well," said Jenkins.

A two-time DSU graduate, Jenkins currently serves as an Instructor/Coordinator in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Delta State. Prior to her current stint, she served as an instructor from 2002-2008. Since returning to her alma mater, she served as the chair of the department until the university's academic restructuring.

A speech-language pathologist by trade, she has served children with communicative disorders for more than 25 years, working for the Cleveland School District, DSU, Therapy Innovations, Inc. and even working in private practice.
