BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Delta State University women's basketball guard
Kennedee Shelton has earned the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honors announced this morning by the conference office.
Shelton helped the Lady Statesmen go 3-0 in five days last week improving to 13-6 in conference play and putting DSU in second place, with three games left in the regular season.
In the 3-0 week, Shelton averaged 17 points per game including two career-best performances against Union and West Florida.
In the 80-70 win against Union, Shelton poured in a career-high 18 points while grabbing five rebounds and shooting 8-13 from the field.
Against Valdosta State, Kennedee posted 11 points, grabbed three rebounds and shot 3-4 from the field while battling foul trouble throughout the game.
In the Saturday win against West Florida, Shelton passed her Tuesday evening career-high 18 with a 22-point performance in Delta State's 78-65 win against West Florida. Shelton also tied her season-high three steals.
The Lady Statesmen look to get a first-round home game in the upcoming Gulf South Conference this weekend as they travel to Cleveland, Tenn., to take on the Lady Flames from Lee University Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. (CT)
