BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Delta State University Tennis'
Amelia Ciesielczyk and
Valentin Greco both earned Gulf South Conference Weekly honors announced this morning by the conference office.

Ciesielcyk earned the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week after helping the Lady Statesmen start their season 4-0. Amelia started her season 3-0 as the no. 1 singles player on the roster with wins over SE Oklahoma's Milana Voloshyn (6-2, 6-2), UT Dallas' Katia Robinson (4-6, 6-4, 6-2), and UT Permian Basin's Dinethya Dharmaratne (6-4, 6-2).

In doubles action, Ciesielcyk teamed up with fellow freshman
Trinity Ly, as the 1 seeded doubles team and went 2-2 throughout the weekend with wins over Western New Mexico's team of Josefina Bailetti and Lucia Carmena (6-1) and UT Permian Basin's Fanny Bergstrom and Sophia Rashid (6-4).

Greco earned Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honors after going a perfect 4-0 in singles play and 3-1 in doubles this past weekend. Greco won all singles matches in straight sets against SE Oklahoma's Nolan Guerin (7-6, 6-0), UT Dallas' (6-1, 6-0), Western New Mexico's Christoph Lund-Kuhl (6-3, 6-0), and UT Permian Basin's Nehal Naidoo (6-4, 6-3).

In doubles Valentin went 3-1 but went 1-0 as a part of the no. 1 team in the win against UT Dallas' Benjamin DuBois and Matheus d' Zanellato (6-3).

DSU Tennis will be playing in a neutral site match today against the Badgers from Spring Hill College in Clinton, Miss., at 2:00 p.m. (CT).
