Cleveland, Miss – The Delta State University Softball Team (2-7, 0-0 GSC) will Travel to Jackson Tennessee, for the 2026 Gulf south Conference Opener. 

The Lady Statesmen will play the Bulldogs of Union University. (3-8, 0-0 GSC) Games 1 and 2 will be played in double header on Friday at 2:00 and then at 4:00. The third game of the series will be played on Saturday Starting at Noon. 

Last Season, the Lady Statesmen won the series here at University Field with a doubleheader sweep against the Lady Bulldogs on day one.  

Scouting the Lady Statesmen:  

• Delta State looks to expand its win streak after a double header non-conference sweep against LeMoyne-Owen 9-1 and 11-0 a week and a half ago in West Memphis, Ark. In the win, the Lady Statesmen had three inside the park home runs including an inside the park grand slam by Kyleigh Wheaton 

• Calli McConnell Leads the Lady Statesmen Offensively, posting a .450 average with nine hits, one triple, and three runs driven in. 

• In the 9-1 win against LeMoyne Owen, redshirt freshman Kendal Moore earned her first career win. The Brandon native threw a complete game striking out seven batters and did not allow a walk. 

• Wheaton also has a batting average of .435, with 10 hits, 1 triple, 2 home runs, and 8 runs driven in.  

Scouting the Lady Bulldogs: 

• Union enters the first weekend of Gulf South Conference play with a 3-8 overall record. The last time out, Union took two out of three games last week on the road against the Tigers from Ouachita Baptist University. This weekend will mark the Lady Bulldog's home opener.  

• Chloe Jones Leads the Lady Bulldogs offense with a .419 average, 13 hits, five doubles, one triple, two homeruns, with nine runs batted in. 

• Rylee Moore Posts a 0.84 ERA in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs. Moore has pitched 25.0 Innings so far this season with 22 strikeouts on the year. Moore also is batting .379 so far this season with 11 hits, one double, one triple, and 1 run driven in.
