CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Delta State University men's soccer team returns to Delta Field this week for a two-game Gulf South Conference home stand tomorrow afternoon and Saturday afternoon.
 
The home stand begins with Union University on Wednesday, September 16, followed by a Saturday, September 19 matchup against UAH at Delta Field. Both matches are scheduled for approximately 3:30 p.m. CT.
 
 
Scouting the Statesmen:

• Delta State enters the two-game home stand with a 2-3-1 overall record, including shutout wins over Harding and Eckerd.
• Tazjean Bird leads the Statesmen with 4 points, recording one goal and two assists through six matches.
• Lucas Crowley has recorded one goal and one assist, while Samuel Fitschen has two assists on the season.
• Goalkeeper Daniel Santema has made 18 saves with an .857 save percentage and has recorded three shutouts.
• As a team, Delta State has scored four goals and recorded six assists through six games.

 
Scouting the Bulldogs:

• Union enters the matchup with a 1-3 overall record after picking up a 2-1 road victory over Christian Brothers in its most recent match.
• Decker Burns, Lewis Harding, Solomon Pela and Niclas Peranitsch are tied for the team lead with two points each.
• Burns, Harding, Pela and Peranitsch have each scored one goal for the Bulldogs this season.
• Union goalkeeper Patrick Schott has recorded 22 saves with a .786 save percentage through four matches.
• The Bulldogs have recorded 47 shots, including 25 shots on goal, while allowing 72 shots from their opponents.

 
Scouting the Chargers:

• UAH enters the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record and is 1-0 in Gulf South Conference play.
• Oli Orzechowski leads the Chargers with eight points, scoring four goals through the team's first four matches.
• Orzechowski also leads UAH with 20 shots and 12 shots on goal, while recording two game-winning goals.
• Goalkeeper Sonny Wright has allowed just two goals and recorded nine saves with an .818 save percentage through four matches.
• As a team, the Chargers are averaging 3.0 goals per game while allowing just 0.5 goals per game.
