Kaitlin Moore, a 5-foot-10 freshman for the Lady Statesmen Softball team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 24. Â Monday's announcement is the first in Moore's career and the first this season for the Lady Statesmen Softball team. Â Â
Moore, a native of Southaven, Miss., went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs scored for the Lady Statesmen in a narrow 8-7 defeat at Union University last Wednesday.  The big-hitting first baseman was 0-1 with a walk and a sacrifice in the 1-0 game two loss. Â
Moore is batting a blistering .435 with 15 doubles, one triple and 17 RBIs this season for the Lady Statesmen. Â Her 15 doubles lead the NCAA heading into this week's matchups with Shorter and West Georgia. Â
