Delta State University

Golfer Landon Carner was named one of GoStatesmen.com's Featured Athletes of the Week, presented by Guaranty Bank, as he helped the Statesmen to a ninth place finish at the University of North Georgia Invitational on Oct. 26 and Oct. 27. 

Carner, who finished the tournament three-under-213, finished in a tie for 17th place overall in pacing the Statesmen. Carner shot a five-under-139 on the first day of the tournament and was Delta State's top finisher. He was also ninth in Par 4 scoring and made the fifth-most birdies in the tournament with eight. 

Carner and the Statesmen wrapped up the fall portion of their season with the UNG tournament and will resume the spring portion of the season in the second semester.
