CLEVELAND-Mississippi Valley State scored two runs in the fourth, and one in the sixth, to give the Delta State University Lady Statesmen their sixth straight loss.

The Lady Statesmen mustered only two hits in the contest, while MVSU had eight.

Ashley Lawrence had an RBI triple for the Devilettes. Angelia Jones had the other RBI.

Brittany Eikner drove in the only run for DSU on an RBI groundout in the third inning. Courtney Clark and Brooke Allgood had the only hits for the Lady Statesmen.

Lisa Jansen earned the win. Jansen went the distance, and allowed one unearned run on two hits. She also struck out six DSU hitters.

Edie Oliver (5-7) took the tough loss. The senior lefty allowed two earned runs on eight hits. She struck out seven, and gave up two walks.

The Lady Statesmen will attempt to bounce back on Saturday, when they play host to Southern Arkansas to begin a four game series.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. The series will be broadcast on the Lady Statesmen Sports Network.
