DECATUR, Ala.-Maryville University capitalized on three Lady Statesmen errors in a 5-4 win in game one, and DSU erupted for 12 runs in a 12-0 win over Lambuth (1-9)  in game two of a split on the final day of the UAH Charger Chillout at Wilson Morgan Park.

The Lady Statesmen (4-6) looked to be in control, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning against MU starter Kelsey Kapitzke.

A two out single by Maggie Jackson scored Crista Richard to give DSU the first run of the contest. Jackson then stole second, and was driven home by a double to left-center by Marisa Sanders.

Maryville answered right back in the top of the second with a two out RBI base hit by Alyssa Thompson.

DSU took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third with a second RBI by Sanders that scored Jackson.

With one out, and runners on second and third in the top of the fifth, Danni Wydra laced a two RBI base hit to center field. Wydra advanced to third on a throwing error by Richard, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Karlie Twissleman.

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, Raina Stiffler's two out RBI single to center field scored pinch-runner Angela Carden from second base to tie the game.

With two outs in the top of the seventh, Shelby Steinkamp scored the winning run on a failed pickoff at third by Taylor Hughes and Meagan Church.

After taking the 3-0 lead in the first inning, DSU kept pouring it on.

With a 4-0 lead in the top of the fifth, Kylie Sumners slammed a two out double to left field for her first collegiate hit. With runners on first and third, Stiffler continued her hot hitting, driving in Sumners.

Freshman Emily Todd provided possibly the most exciting moment of the game in the top of the sixth, when she led off the inning with a dramatic inside the park homer to left field, that rolled to the wall.

Up 7-0 in the top of the seventh, DSU exploded for five big runs.

The seven run frame was highlighted by five DSU hits.
