CLEVELAND -- The Delta State University women's soccer team added a new member, as head coach Paul Babba signed Megan LaPlante.
LaPlante, a native of Madison, Miss, is a product of Germantown High School. As an outside back and center midfielder, LaPlante has played varsity soccer since the seventh grade. She has been named 1st Team twice, and named to an All-League Second Team once, as well as being named a Scholar Athlete from 2006-2010. LaPlante is a member of Bet Club, and has mentored two elementary children.
Also active on the club soccer scene, LaPlante has been on successful squads. Her club teams have been US Club National Cup Champions, been Las Vegas Showcase Semi-Finalists, US Club Soccer Region Champions, to go along with other accolades.
Academic programs attracted LaPlante to Delta State.
“I am interested in Delta State because it has a reputation for being a strong school for education majors,” LaPlante said. “It is also one of the schools I have found that has the health/physical education major I am interested in.”
On the field competition also has led LaPlante to choose the Lady Statesmen program.
“I want to play soccer for Delta State, because I want to play in a competitive environment, and continue to improve as a soccer player and team member.”
Megan Marie LaPlante born Feb. 18, 1994, is the daughter of Jon and Heidi LaPlante. She has one brother Jonathan LaPlante Jr.
