CLEVELAND - The Delta State University Lady Statesmen are scheduled to play six games over the next five days, which includes a pair of Gulf South Conference doubleheaders.

DSU will travel to Monticello, Ark., on March 22 to face another former GSC foe in the University of Arkansas Monticello Cotton Blossoms.

The Lady Statesmen fell 1-0 in game one to Southern Arkansas University, but rebounded to take game two 9-6. DSU managed only two hits in the first game, as SAU pitcher Hanna Gill did not allow a hit until the bottom of the sixth inning.  The Lady Statesmen plated six runs in the bottom of the third in the nightcap, and held on for the win.

UAM has five players hitting over .300, including Maggie Sands, who leads the way with a .400 average. All-American Kayla Jackson leads the Cotton Blossoms with an 11-4 mark. Opponents are hitting a measly .165 against the right-hander.

DSU will look to continue its momentum from a win over No. 5 Alabama Huntsville on March 24-25 as West Florida and West Alabama will play host to the Lady Statesmen in GSC double headers.

UWF has not lost to the Lady Statesmen since Feb. 10, 2006, and will look to senior Amber Ingram to continue that streak. Ingram enters the week with a .354 average. The UWA lineup features Rebecca Schick who is currently batting .346 with six home runs and 22 RBIs.

LADY STATESMEN ATTEMPTING TO REBOUND FROM DISAPPOINTING 2011
Delta State University softball finished its 2011 season with a final record of 20-32. The below .500 ledger marked the first time since the 1991 season that the green-and-white finished with a losing record.

SENIORS LOOK TO LEAD DSU
The 2012 version of the Delta State University Lady Statesmen features five seniors for coach Casey Charles. Four of the five transferred to DSU from junior colleges, while Ashleigh Allgood arrived at DSU via the University of West Florida.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
On opening day of the 2012 softball season, the DSU lineup only featured three seniors in the starting nine. In fact, three freshmen, and four juniors were in the starting lineup.

SANDERS LEADING THE WAY FOR DSU
Marisa Sanders has picked up where she left off at the end of the 2011 season, as she currently leads Delta State with a .356 batting average. The Washington, Mo., native also leads the Lady Statesmen with three home runs.

JACKSON LEADING BY EXAMPLE
Senior Maggie Jackson has found new confidence at the plate during her second season at DSU. Through 25 games this season, the McComb, Miss., native ranks second on the team with a .338 batting average with six RBIs. The Southwest (Miss.) Community College transfer is tied for the team lead with seven multi hit games.

ADCOCK GETTING IT DONE IN THE CLUTCH
Freshman infielder Amber Adcock has welcomed the pressure of being a starting infielder during her debut campaign in the green-and-white. The Brandon, Miss., native leads DSU with 21 RBIs, and is tied for second on the team with a pair of home runs. More impressively, Adcock is 14-of-27 with runners in scoring position. The former Brandon HS product has only struck out two times this season.
