ALLGOOD CLUTCH AT THE PLATE
Senior
Ashleigh Allgood has helped the Lady Statesmen in many ways this season, but possibly her biggest contribution has come at the plate. The senior leads DSU with 36 RBIs. The Oxford, Ala., native is batting .339 with runners in scoring position with 22 two out RBIs and a .435 batting average with two outs in GSC play.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
On opening day of the 2012 softball season, the DSU lineup only featured three seniors in the starting nine. In fact, three freshmen, and four juniors were in the starting lineup. Of those three freshmen, two (
Amber Adcock and
Taylor Holland) rank in the top four on the team in batting average.
KENDALL BREAKS INTO ROTATION
After being out of action for nearly two years, pitcher
Lauren Kendall has become a solid option in the circle for the Lady Statesmen. The Cleveland native made her first appearance in the green-and-white on March 25, when she allowed one run on one hit in four innings against West Alabama. Kendall currently has a 1-4 mark with a team best 3.10 ERA in five appearances.
JACKSON LEADING BY EXAMPLE
Senior
Maggie Jackson has found new confidence at the plate during her second season at DSU. Through 43 games this season, the McComb, Miss., native ranks second on the team with a .3303batting average with eight RBIs. The Southwest (Miss.) Community College transfer leads the team with 13 multi hit games.
ADCOCK GETTING IT DONE IN THE CLUTCH
Freshman infielder
Amber Adcock has welcomed the pressure of being a starting infielder during her debut campaign in the green-and-white. The Brandon, Miss., native ranks second for DSU with 24 RBIs, and is tied for second on the team with a pair of home runs. More impressively, Adcock is batting .393 in Gulf South Conference play.
