Box Score 2 FLORENCE, Ala. – The Delta State University Lady Statesmen softball team committed four errors and allowed 26 total hits in a pair of losses, Saturday at the UNA Invitational inside the Florence Sportsplex.
DSU (4-6) fell 9-4 to Missouri-St. Louis in game one, and allowed five first inning runs in a 7-2 loss to Miles.
The Tritons (3-4) struck first in the bottom of the first inning, plating two runs against starting pitcher
Lauren Kendall, as Brandi Kiel drove in a run with an RBI single, and Alexa Harvey scored on a wild pitch.
UMSL added a run in the bottom of the third with an RBI single by Madison Zbaraschuk and took control in the bottom of the fourth with three runs to take a 6-0 lead.
Tritons starting pitcher Hannah Perryman allowed her first hit of the contest in the top of the sixth, as
Emily Todd led off the inning with a double down the left field line. The Lady Statesmen ended Perryman's shutout bid in the same inning on
Brook Cline's two RBI double to right field.

Miller Maddox and an RBI groundout put UMSL up 9-2 going into the top of the seventh.
DSU saved its biggest inning for last, getting three hits in the top of the seventh, as
Kaitlin Moore laced a double down the right field line, scoring
Taylor Hughes. Todd's second hit of the game plated Moore to end the scoring for the Lady Statesmen.
Perryman (3-2) allowed three hits with 11 strikeouts, but walked eight DSU hitters in six innings of work. Brittni Chapman pitched one inning and allowed two hits.
Lauren Kendall (2-3) allowed five runs on nine hits in three innings, while miller Maddox allowed three runs, four earned on five hits.
Katie Wood, Zbaraschuk, Harvey and Kiel all had two hits for UMSL, while Ashleigh King led the way with three hits.
Todd (2-for-3) was the only player to have multiple hits for DSU.
In game two, Miles (1-6) scored five runs in the top of the first inning against DSU starting pitcher
Brittany Gonzales, using three hits, two errors and a wild pitch to score its runs.
The Golden Bears plated two more runs in the top of the fourth, as Terri Roberts and Tiffany Roberts each had RBI base hits.
DSU answered back with one run in the bottom of the inning with an RBI infield single by
Amber Adcock. The Lady Statesmen got one more run in the third inning with Todd's RBI single to third, but the momentum was killed when Adcock grounded into a double play with two on and none out.
Amanda Talley recorded five of the last seven in order to end the game for Miles.
Taylor Holland was 3-for-3 to lead DSU, while Terri and Tiffany Roberts each went 3-for-4 for Miles.
Gonzales (2-3) allowed seven runs, one earned on six hits in 3.1 innings.
Memrie Corley allowed six hits in 2.2 innings of work in her collegiate pitching debut, and
Katie Hebert pitched one inning of hitless relief.
Talana Brown (1-2) allowed two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Talley allowed two hits in two innings of relief.
DSU will finish the UNA Invite beginning at 12:00 p.m. with Wisconsin-Parkside, before finishing the day with Georgia College at 2:00 p.m.
