Lauren Kendall, who recorded only one out in the inning. The Cotton Blossoms sent nine to the plate in an inning that featured three doubles and a home run.
Beth Johnson's first of two home runs in the game, along with an RBI infield single by Kara House gave the Cotton Blossoms a commanding 7-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
Johnson's second home run of the day, a two run shot, completed the scoring at 9-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lady Statesmen were retired in order in the top of the fifth, dropping the contest via the eight run lead after five inning mercy rule.
Katie Slaughter (9-2) allowed only three hits in the win, while Kendall (3-5) allowed five runs on five hits. Gonzales allowed four runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings of relief.
