THE BASICS GAME 1:Delta State University took a 2-1 lead into the final frame but let it slip away in the bottom of the ninth, losing game one of the double header 3-2 to Nova Southeastern.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1: - A Dylan Woods single put a runner aboard for Nova Southeastern in the top of the third, Woods then stole second to put himself in scoring position. Roche Woodard followed with a walk, putting runners on at both first and second. Senior Drew Milligan's pickoff throw to check Woodard at first went wide and allowed the shortstop to score and advanced Wooadard to third.
- Freshman Dalton Skelton kick-started things in the sixth inning with a leadoff single into left field. The Statesmen then got back-to-back walks from juniors Brandon Cummins and Trent Giambrone to load the bases.
- Junior Ben Pickard capitalized with bases juiced, launching an RBI sacrifice fly into deep center field to level the game at 1-1.
- Delta State took its first lead of the series in the eighth; with Cummins at third and Pickard at second an infield RBI single off junior Jacob Swiney's bat made the score 2-1 in favor of the Statesmen.
- Delta State University retired the first two hitters in the bottom of the ninth, but Nova Southeastern loaded the bases with the help of a single and two walks. The Sharks tied the game when a wild pitch got away from the Statesmen, allowing Teft Hill to score.
- NSU loaded the bases again in the ninth when Woods drew a walk. The next hitter, Roche Woodard, drove in the winning run on a bases loaded walk. The base on balls capped a 3-2 series-clinching win for Nova Southeastern.

THE BASICS GAME 2:Nova Southeastern completed the sweep of Delta State University in game two of the double header 1-0. A Statesmen error proved to be too costly in the first as it led to an unearned run, which turned out to be the only scoring in the series finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2: - A throwing error in the bottom of the first inning allowed Nova Southeastern's leadoff hitter, Roche Woodard to get aboard.
- The following hitter Andres Visbal capitalized on the Statesmen miscue driving a ball through the right side of the infield for an RBI single.
- A senior Landon Thibodeauv ledoff single followed by a junior Colton Welch double gave the Statesmen their first scoring opportunity in the contest, with runners at second and third.
- The Statesmen went on to load the bases in the frame when junior Erick Santiago drew a walk, but a flyout ended the inning with no runs on the board.
- With one out in the fourth junior first basemen belted a shot of the wall in left-center for a double. A senior Marc McMillian walk put runners and both first and second with one out.
- Senior Hunter Twitty smacked a hard groundout to second base advamcing each runner into scoring position. The next batter flew out to center field ending the threat for the Statesmen.
- The last chance for the Statesmen came in the seventh inning, pitch-hitter junior Matt Barrett pounded a two-out single into left field to keep the game in play. Skelton then came on to run for Barrett but a fliyout ended Delta State's comeback attempt
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE- Both shortstops used today made their first career start in a Delta State Uniform. Skelton was penciled into the first contest's lineup, going 1-for-4 with a run scored. Junior Erick Santiago picked up the nod in the second game going 0-for-1, before being pitch hit for in the seventh.
- Junior first basemen Colton Welch's two doubles in game two of the double header marked the first hits of his Statesmen career.
- The Statesmen outhit the Sharks in each game of the three-game stand.
- Delta State pitching struck out 31 Sharks over the weekend. The three starters combined for 21 of the punch-outs and logged 17.2 innings.
- The Green and White's two starting pitchers to throw on Saturday didn't allow an earned run. Senior Drew Milligan went 6.1 innings in game one, allowed two hits and struckout eight. Junior Austin Rice took the mound in the backhalf of the double header and went 6.0 innings, gave up a pair of singles, while striking out five.
- The series sweep from Nova Southeastern marked the first time the Statesmen have been swept since 2011. That year, eventual national champions West Florida won all three games in Pensacola over Delta State.
