CLEVELAND, Mississippi – Delta State University baseball dropped the series finale 5-4 against Palm Beach Atlantic University on Saturday afternoon.
Will Robertson led the way, going 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The Statesmen scored first in their initial at-bat, rallying to string back-to-back hits together with two outs. Will Robertson extended the inning with a two-out double to right center field and later scored on an Ethan Gill RBI single over the head of the third baseman.
- Palm Beach Atlantic scored its first run with two outs in the top half of the third. Mac Hessney's blooper landed in shallow right centerfield, scoring Jake Summey from second and tying the game at 1-1.
- With the bases juiced, Trent Giambrone flied out to centerfield, deep enough for Jacob Swiney to score from second. Then, Robertson cleared the bases with a two-RBI single to left field, scoring Brandon Cummins and Juwan Burney. The Green-and-White regained the lead, 4-1.
- The Sailfish tacked on two more runs, one in the fifth and seventh, to chip away at the deficit, 4-3.
- In the top of the eighth, PBAU's Peter Rivera sent a pitch soaring over the left field fence, plating two runs and regaining the 5-4 advantage. It was his second two-run home run of the series.
- Delta State threatened in the bottom of the ninth with the tying run at third and two outs, but a groundout ended the threat and the game, as the Statesmen dropped the series finale 5-4.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE- DSU left 36 men on base in the series with Palm Beach Atlantic.
- Falkner, Miss., native Will Robertson has RBIs in every game this season but one. He totaled five in the series with PBAU.
- Senior Ethan Gill extended his hitting streak to seven, while Ben Pickard has recorded a hit in five consecutive games. Gill also has at least one RBI in every game this season but one.
- Dalton Moats (1-1) suffered the loss on the mound but recorded a career-high six strikeouts.
- Phil DiLandro (1-1) earned the win after throwing 3.1 scoreless innings of relief.
- Palm Beach's threat in the top of the ninth was ended with a 4-6-3-2 triple play.
