JACKSON, Tenn. – Dalton Moats struck out a career-high 10 batters to help Delta State University (11-7, 6-3 GSC) clinch the series with a 12-0 win over Union University (12-5, 6-3 GSC) on Sunday. Jacob Swiney (5) and Ben Pickard (3) each belted home runs and combined for eight RBIs at the plate for the Statesmen.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Statesmen struck for three runs in the first to take a 3-0 lead. Brandon Cummins led off with a triple and scored on a Trent Giambrone single and Ben Pickard hit a two-run home run.
• The scored remained 3-0 until the Statesmen added four runs in the sixth and five in the seventh.
• Pickard had an RBI single followed by a Jacob Swiney two-run double. Swiney later scored on a Dakota Glore sacrifice fly to give DSU a 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the sixth.
• Will Robertson delivered a two-run double and Swiney connected for a three-run home run to highlight the five run seventh.
• Dalton Moats struck out the side in the seventh to end the game due the NCAA mercy rule.

• Delta State has won four-straight series clinching games, improving to 4-1.  The Statesmen have won the last two series clinching games by the mercy rule, defeating Lee 17-3 (2.28.16).
• Moats struck out a career-high 10 Bulldogs while snapping a two-game losing streak to improve to 2-2.
• Swiney drove in a career-high five runs including a three-run home run in the seventh. The home run was Swiney's second of the series..
