CLEVELAND, Miss. –
Jacob Swiney had three RBIs including the game winner in the eighth inning to lead No. 12 Delta State University (33-14, 22-9 GSC) to a 3-2 win over Mississippi College (16-29, 6-24 GSC) on Saturday at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field.
Will Robertson went 3-for-4, and
Ben Pickard was 3-for-3 to lead Delta State's 13-hit attack.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ethan Gill doubled and scored when Jacob Swiney reached on a fielder's choice to give the Statesmen a 1-0 lead in the second.
- The Choctaws tied the game in the fourth on Casey Echols' RBI single.
- Delta State took a 2-1 lead in the sixth. Ben Pickard doubled and scored on a Swiney single.
- Will Elliot tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the seventh with a solo home run to left field.
- The Statesmen regained the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the eighth. Trent Giambrone led off with a single followed by a Robertson single. Gill's sacrifice bunt moved Giambrone and Robertson to second and third, respectively. Pickard was intentionally walked before Giambrone scored on a Swiney ground out.
- Dalton Moats (9-3) struck out two and allowed one hit before getting a ground out to close the game for the Statesmen in the ninth. The junior struck out nine and allowed two runs on seven hits with no walks in the complete-game win.
- Austin Watts (1-2) suffered the loss in relief of starter Jake Fraze for the Choctaws. Watts allowed one run on two hits in an inning of work.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- The Statesmen had 13 hits which marked 30 games with double-digit hits this season. Robertson went 3-for-4, and Pickard was 3-for-3 to lead Delta State's 13-hit attack.
- DSU improved to 25-6 when scoring first.
