th inning to help No. 11 Southern Arkansas (24-5) to a 3-2 win over No. 15 Delta State University (22-8, 13-5 GSC) on Tuesday at Walker Stadium-Goodheart Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Muleriders scored a run in each of the first two innings to take a quick 2-0 lead. Blake Hall hit a solo home run to left in the first and James Trevanion singled and scored on a sac-fly in the second.
- Delta State got a run in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit to 2-1. Josh Russell doubled to start in the inning and came around to score on a Nick Morgan single to left.
- The Statesmen tied the game with a run in the top of the eighth. Jason Popovich led off the inning with a single and after moving to second on a Juwan Burney sacrifice bunt, scored on a Brian Lane single to left. DSU would load the bases with one out, but a double play ended the threat.
- Delta State got the go-ahead run to third with one out in the top of the ninth, but SAU turned a double play on a squeeze bunt attempt to end the inning.
- Southern Arkansas loaded the bases with two walks and a single in the bottom of the 11th to set up a bases loaded walk by Cortland McPherson that gave SAU the 3-2 victory.
ON THE MOUND
- Zach Osbon (5-1) took the loss in relief for the Statesmen. The Monroe, La., native gave up one run on one hit with four strikeouts and three walks in 3.1 innings pitched.
- Makenzy Larsen (3-0) scattered three hits over 3.2 scoreless innings with a strikeout to earn the win for SAU.
- Peyton White started and threw five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with a strikeout, while Brady Chambley worked two scoreless innings with a strikeout on the mound in relief for the Statesmen.
NOTEABLES
- The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak for the Statesmen.
- Russell and Ellis collected two hits each as the only Statesmen with multiple hits.
- Morgan and Shannon had RBI singles to account for Statesmen's two runs.
