CLEVELAND, Miss. –
Rasheide Bell scored the final eight points of the night to lift the Delta State University men's basketball team to a 58-52 victory over Miles College on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Walter Sillers Coliseum. The senior from Evansville, Ind., scored a season-high 12 points, shooting 3-of-7 from the floor, and 6-of-6 from the line. Miles was led by Devante Fuller with 12 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Statesmen got off to a slow start, as Miles built a 9-2 lead at the first media timeout. The Golden Bears were 3-of-3 from 3-point range, including 2-of-2 from Labyron Harris, during the first 4:01 of the contest.
- Back-to-back lay-ups from Justin Slocum and Armon Benford cut the Bears lead to 9-6 with 14:20 to go in the first half.
- Over the next five minutes, Miles built a 20-10 lead with 9:23 to go in the first.
- Delta State closed the half on a 13-6 run to cut Miles lead to 26-23 at the break. The Golden Bears were led by Harris with eight points, Benford's seven points paced the Statesmen.
- A pair of Matthew Wilson jumpers and two point-blank lay-ins by Cedric Harper and Slocum cut the Miles lead to two, 33-31, with 15:15 to play in the second half.
- The Golden Bears answered the 8-3 run by DSU on a driving basket by Jelani Watson-Gale with 14:57 to go.
- Trailing 38-33, DSU went on a 6-2 run to make it 40-39 at the under-12 media timeout.
- Slocum's 10-foot jump shot gave DSU its first lead since 2-0, 41-40, with 10:14 to play.
- Jeffrey Dockett answered with a short jumper to reclaim the lead for Miles, 42-41, with 9:07 remaining.
- Warner connected on DSU's first 3-pointer of the night to extend the Statesmen lead to 48-44 with 5:45 left in the half.
- Nathan Sheffield nailed two 3-pointers and a lay-in by Harris gave the Golden Bears the 52-48 lead with 2:26 to go.
- After the Statesmen forced a Golden Bear turnover, Bell began a personal 8-0 run that triggered a 58-52 comeback win for DSU. He was 6-of-6 from the free throw line and nailed a clutch jumper in the final 1:33 of the contest.
TURNING POINT
- In the final 1:33 of the game, Rasheide Bell's six consecutive made free throws and a clutch jumper was enough to push the Statesmen past the Golden Bears, 58-52.
STAT OF THE GAME
- Delta State outscored Miles 20-8 off turners, including 10-3 in the second half.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Delta State was 24-of-52 (46.2 percent) from the floor. The Golden Bears shot 43.8 percent (21-of-48) from the floor, while hitting 7-of-16 from 3-point range and 3-of-4 from the line.
- Warner, who finished with seven points and five assists, made just 1-of-3 from 3-point range to push his career total to 150. The Collierville, Tenn., native ranks fifth on the Delta State career 3-pointers made chart. His 425 attempts are fourth all-time at DSU.
- Delta State dominated scoring in the paint, 40-20, but Miles managed to outrebound the Statesmen 34-25.
- Despite going 1-of-8 from 3-point range and 9-of-16 from the line, the Statesmen were able to erase a five-point halftime deficit.
- Slocum finished the night with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Harper finished with 10 points, four rebounds and five blocks.
- Miles led for 32:30, while DSU held the lead at the buzzer.
