CLEVELAND, Miss. – The No. 32 University of West Alabama Tigers defeated Delta State 7-2 on Thursday, April 12, in Cleveland, Miss.
The match was Delta State's final home match of the season. Senior

The Statesmen put up a hard fight, but the Tigers won all three doubles matches.
Delta State began to gain momentum in the singles competition when
Hugo Stroppiana upset Linus Holthey and
Stedman Strickland defeated Honorio Fernandez. However, the Tigers quickly regrouped to take the remaining singles matches and clinch the match win.

- The Tigers improve to 14-4 and 9-2 in the GSC.
- Senior Joao Yamacita was honored prior to the match. He has appeared in 43 singles matches and 61 doubles matches. This season, he has helped guide the Statesmen to one of their best seasons in program history, including their highest national ranking since 2014 and a fifth place seed in the GSC Tournament.
- Graduate Assistant Tennis Coach Julian Massa was also recognized. Massa lettered two season in Statesmen tennis and is currently pursuing his Master's degree at Delta State.
