LAKELAND, Fla. - Tampa starter David Lebron had nine strikeouts over 8.2 scoreless innings to lead University of Tampa (41-9) to a 3-0 win over No. 1/10 Delta State University (41-10) in the winners bracket of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament on Monday at Henley Field.
Delta State will play Gulf South Conference member Montevallo in an elimination game at Tiger Town at 4:30 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tampa got on the scoreboard with a three-run second inning which would prove to be all it needed. Clay Helvey and Brandon Gali singled and Stephen Smith walked to load the bases with one out Richie Rivera singled home Helvey and Gali and Smith scored on a Nick DeTringo double down the left field line.
- The Statesmen mounted a threat in the fourth. Brian Lane reached on an error and Zack Shannon singled with two outs before UT starter David Lebron got a strikeout to end the threat.
- The Statesmen put two runners on with two outs in the top of the ninth only to see closer Mark Moclair come in and register a strikeout to end the game.
ON THE MOUND
- Dalton Minton (8-2) allowed three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts against one walk to take the loss for the Statesmen.
- Lebron (10-0) struck out nine and scattered two hits over 8.2 innings to earn the win.
- Jason Lott worked 1.2 scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts.
- Moclair came on in the ninth to record the final out and register his seventh save for the Spartans.
NOTABLES
- Shannon and Emil Ellis accounted for the Statesmen's two hits.
- The Statesmen were shutout for the third time this season and the first since a 3-0 loss to Shorter (3.25).
