NCAA REGIONAL FINAL RESULTS
CONOVER, N.C. – The Delta State University men's golf team tied Saint Leo for sixth place, earning them a spot in the NCAA National championship. The Statesmen carded 24-over, 876 at the par 71 6,940 Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Course. The Statesmen were in 13th after round one until they jumped five spots in round two.
The Green-and-White came out strong in round three inking them a spot in nationals. Delta State went 299, 287, and 290 for the tournament. The top five teams from the South/Southeast Regional Championship advance to nationals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zach Zediker fired a 72, 69, and 69 for a 210 total. Zediker placed in the top 10 tying for sixth place to lead the Statesmen.
- John-Crawford Counts followed Zediker with a 75, 72, 74 to finish in the top 50.
- George Kawell carded a 75, 73, 75 to help the Green-and-White.
- Alan Larson shot a 77, 73, and 74, totaling 224 for the week.
- Mitchell Haddox totaled a 224, carding a 77, 74, and 73 for the tournament.
TOURNAMENT NOTABLES
- West Florida won the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship, carding an impressive 12-under, 840.
- Florida Southern (843), Barry (853), Lynn (854) and Lincoln Memorial (868) followed West Florida to round out the top five.
- John Van Der Lann finished first for individuals.
- Zach Zediker finished sixth.
- The top seven teams punching ticket to nationals are West Florida, Florida Southern, Barry, Lynn, Lincoln Memorial, Delta State, and Saint Leo.
