CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State men's basketball team took on their in-state rival Mississippi College on Saturday, December 21, 2019. They barely held on with a 61-57 victory. Despite being outrebounded, the Statesmen got the victory. It is the first Gulf South Conference win for the Statesmen on the season and stopped a two game losing streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Statesmen led the Choctaws 7-4 at the 15:49 media timeout. Cam Burkett led DSU in scoring with three points.
- An 8-0 run extended the DSU lead 15-6 with 12:43 left in the first half. Keyshaun Street led the statesmen in scoring with five points.
- As of the 11:29 media time out, DSU's lead had been cut to five, 15-10.
- Delta State's struggle to score resulted in their lead being cut to one, 15-14 at the 7:43 media timeout.
- A dunk off the inbound pass by Winford Ross gave Mississippi College a 16-15 lead with 5:40 left in the half.
- A big three by Savvas Georgiadias gave DSU a 22-21 lead with 3:33 remaining in the half.
- After two free throws by Willie Logan, MC took a 25-22 lead with1:02 left in the half.
- Thanks to Street's clutch three for DSU with 0.46 seconds left had the game tied at 25 going into halftime. Street led the Statesmen with eight points in the half, while Logan led MC with 6 points in the half.
- Delta State took an early 32-27 lead after Street's corner three with 18:20 left in the second half.
- The Statesmen held a 43-37 lead as of the 11:58 media timeout. Brooks and McCoy led the statesmen with four points apiece in the half.
- Thanks to a layup by Keevon Oney the Choctaws cut DSU's lead to four, 50-46 with 8:09 left in the game.
- At the last media timeout, the Statesmen led 55-50 with 3:34 left in the contest.
- With 1:15 Logan went 1-2 from the line cutting Delta State's lead 57-55.
- A mid-ranged jumper by Georgiadias gave DSU a four-point lead with 0.58 second remaining. Statesmen led 59-55.
- With 17.2 seconds left in the game a jumper by MC's Logan cut Delta State's lead to 60-57.
- DSU held on to win a close game 61-57.
TURNING POINT
- The Statesmen had 6 more threes than Mississippi College. This allowed Delta State to cut their deficits and extend their leads throughout the game.

- Keyshuan Street leading the team in scoring with 17 points and leading in three pointers with four.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Airen Brooks recorded his fourth double-double of the season. Brooks scored 15 points and grabbed 12 boards.
- Keyshuan Street led DSU in scoring with 17. This is the sixth time that Street has led the Green and White in scoring.
- Anderson McCoy tied his season high in assist with 6 in the game.
