MAGNOLIA, Ark. – No. 10/1 Delta State University baseball (15-2, 7-0 GSC) got a solid effort on the mound en route to a 5-2 win over No. 9 Southern Arkansas University (13-5, 8-1-GAC) on Wednesday at Walker Stadium-Goodheart Field.
Statesmen pitchers combined to post 13 strikeouts that included four strikeouts apiece by starter

Christian Day The 13 strikeouts marked the ninth game that DSU pitchers have combined for 10-plus strikeouts.
Hayden White finished with a single, a double and two runs scored and
Weber Herbison had two hits with a run scored to lead the Statesmen at the plate.
Matt Majeur notched his first home run of the season in the fifth inning to give the Statesmen a 5-2 lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Statesmen grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when White doubled and scored on a Herbison single.
- Delta State added two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to build the lead to 4-0.
- White, Herbison and Landon Roberts singled to load the bases in the fourth. Josh Russell reached on a fielder's choice to White and Herbison came home on a wild pitch.
- Majeur belted a solo home run to left field in the fifth.
- SAU loaded the bases and managed scratched across two runs to cut the DSU lead to 4-2. Brett McGhee had an RBI single and Zach Muldoon scored when Jansen McCurdy reached on a fielder's choice.
- The Statesmen answered with a run in the top of sixth to take a 5-2 lead. Roberts drew a leadoff walk and later scored on a wild pitch.
- Tyler Walton entered the game with one out and two runners on in the eighth and promptly coaxed pinch hitter Jordan Volner to hit an inning ended double play.
- Walton got a strikeout and two ground outs in the ninth to end the game.
ON THE MOUND HAPPENED
- Minton (3-0) struck out four and scattered three hits over 3.0 innings to get the win for the Statesmen
- SAU starter Remy Bilodeau (0-1) had seven strikeouts but gave up three runs on six hits in 4.0 innings pitched to get the loss.
- Walton earned his first save of the season, tossing 1.2 innings with one strikeout.

- Majeur's solo home run in the fifth was his first of the season.
