CLEVELAND, Miss. — Hunter Riggins tossed a complete game with six strikeouts to lead No. 2 seed Delta State University baseball (40-12) to a 5- 1 win over No. 7 seed Embry-Riddle University (29-21) in game two of the NCAA Division II South 2 Region Tournament on Thursday at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field.

th win of the season The Hernando, Miss., native allowed one run on eight hits in nine innings pitched.
Seven different Statesmen collected hits in a 10 hit attack on the night. Young finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Estave was 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Statesmen offensively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Embry-Riddle grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Kirk Sidwell singled and moved to third on a Zach Howard double before scoring on a John Devine ground out.
- The Statesmen plated two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 2-1 lead. Weber Herbison hit a solo home run to lead off the inning and Brett Young singled and scored on a wild pitch.
- Two more runs crossed the plate for the Statesmen to push the lead to 4-1. Young led off with a singled and came home on a Darek Sargent double and Sargent scored on a CJ Estave single to left.
- Josh Russell doubled and scored on a Herbison sac-fly to left to give the Statesmen a 5-1 lead in the sixth.
ON THE MOUND
- Hunter Riggins (11-3) tossed his third complete game of the season, recording six strikeouts while allowing one run on seven hits to earn the win.
- ERU starter Troy Naab (8-2) worked 5.1 innings, allowing five runs on seven with six strikeouts to take the loss.
NOTEABLES
- The Statesmen finished with 10 hits for their 13th double-digit hit in their last 16 games.
- Seven different Statesmen collected hits on the night. Young finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Estave was 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Statesmen offensively.
- David Herrington, Sargent, Jake Barlow, Herbison and Russell each had one hit apiece. Russell and Sargent each had double and Herbison notched his fifth home run of the season.
