CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State men's basketball loss another tough one on Thursday, January 30, 2020, again to the University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers 66-64. The game featured seven ties and 16 lead changes with neither team having more than a five point lead at any point.
Maalik Cartwright set a new career high in scoring as well as recording his first double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 boards. This is the second straight time the Statesmen have lost by two points to UAH.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Back to back threes helped the Statesmen take an early 6-2 lead with 18:16 left in the first half.
- A layup and one by JJ Kaplan gave the Chargers an 8-6 lead with 17:20 remaining in the half.
- Cam Burkett's three pointer with 14:56 remaining gave the Statemen a two-point lead, 15-14.
- At the 14:23 media timeout the Statesmen trailed by one, 16-15.
- After eight lead changes the Chargers took a four-point lead 26-22 with 9:56 left in the half.
- The Chargers took a 26-24 lead into the 9:04 media timeout.
- Maalik Cartwright's three put the Statesmen up one, 30-29 with 6:41 left on the clock.
- The Statesmen led 33-29 at the 6:01 media timeout.
- A three pointer from Keyshuan Street extended the Statesmen lead to five, 36-31.
- With 0:42 remaining in the first the Statesmen led by one, 36-35.

- After Airen Brooks went 1-2 from the free throw line the game was tied 64-64 with 1:16 left on the clock.
- UAH went on to defeat Delta State 66-64.
TURNING POINT
- After a missed free throw from the Statesmen, Seth Swalve for UAH hit a transition jumper to give the Chargers a lead with 59 seconds to go in the game and neither team scored the last minute of the contest.
